Safeguarding Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Brave Generation works with young people affected by war and displacement. Safeguarding means doing everything reasonably possible to prevent harm and to respond quickly when concerns arise.
Why do we have a safeguarding policy?
Our programs involve mentorship, education support, and community activities. This policy sets expectations for adults who interact with participants and explains how to report concerns.
Who does this apply to?
Staff, contractors, board members, mentors, volunteers, and partners acting on behalf of Brave Generation in program contexts. Website visitors are not program participants simply by browsing or subscribing to the newsletter.
Core principles
- The welfare of young people comes first
- Zero tolerance for abuse, exploitation, or harassment
- Adults are responsible for maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Concerns should be reported promptly and in good faith
- Retaliation against honest reporters is prohibited
What do we expect from adults in our programs?
- Treat participants with dignity and respect
- Keep communications professional and program-related
- Avoid one-to-one situations that create unnecessary risk where alternatives exist
- Never request sexual content, engage in romantic relationships with participants, or use position for personal advantage
- Follow local law and any additional partner safeguarding rules
How do you report a safeguarding concern?
Email [email protected] with “Safeguarding” in the subject line. Include what happened, when, who was involved (if known), and how we can reach you. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
You may also use our Complaints & Whistleblower channel for related organizational concerns.
Privacy and participant data
We limit sensitive personal data to what programs require and handle it under our Privacy Policy. Public website forms (such as the newsletter) are separate from confidential program case files.
