Data Retention
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Brave Generation keeps information only as long as needed for program delivery, donor stewardship, security, and legal obligations. This page summarizes retention practices that supplement our Privacy Policy.
Purpose
Retention limits reduce risk and respect people’s data. Exact periods can vary by record type, jurisdiction, and legal holds.
Categories of records
- Website and form submissions (newsletter, contact, partnership inquiries)
- Donation and receipt records processed via Stripe and our finance systems
- Program applications and participation records
- Mentor/volunteer onboarding materials
- Safeguarding, complaint, and incident files
- Governance records (board minutes, conflict disclosures)
Typical retention approach
- Marketing email lists: until you unsubscribe or we close the list segment
- Donation records: as required for tax, accounting, and audit obligations
- Program records: for the program cycle plus a reasonable period for alumni support, evaluation, and compliance
- Security logs / Turnstile: short operational periods unless needed to investigate abuse
- Complaint / safeguarding files: retained as needed to protect people and meet legal duties, with restricted access
Analytics tools load only after consent (see Cookie Policy) and are subject to vendor retention settings and your opt-out choices.
Deletion and anonymization
When retention ends, we delete or anonymize data where practicable. Backups and third-party systems may lag behind primary deletion.
Your rights
Depending on your location and the data involved, you may request access, correction, or deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.
